The relics of St Silouan

In 1992 "Saint Nicholas” Orthodox University Chapel received a small part of the relics of St Silouan the Athonite.

According to the Certificate of Donation, written and signed by Archimandrite Sophrony Saharov which accompanied the relics, the small part represents one of the pieces received by father Sophrony Saharov in 1941. In fact, father Sophrony, living in France at that time, visited the Monastery of St. Panteleimon in Mount Athos on 24 September 1941, when the sepulcher of St Silouan the Athonite had been opened, three years after his departure to the Lord.

Saint Silouan the Athonite has been canonized by Decree of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchy on 26th of November, 1987.
